Adventure and Trails

The historic town of Dwellingup is uniquely located amongst the beautiful state forest of the Darling Range and nestled between the South Dandalup and Murray rivers.

Within a convenient distance for day trips from the City of Perth, many of the state's major Trails and Tracks cross through or are within close proximity to the town centre. This makes Dwellingup an ideal place to either start an adventure or to take a well earned rest along the route. With well serviced access roads and ample accommodation in or near to the town, it also makes for an ideal place for family or supporters to base themselves.

If you need to top up supplies there are a number of local businesses that cater specifically to campers, canoeists, riders and walkers. They also hire equipment to tourists and visitors.

You can also travel back in time with the Hotham Valley Railway to experience the freedom of rail travel in the style of years gone by: soak up a hundred years of history on board a vintage dining train or thrill to the sights and sounds of steam power in the Darling Ranges!

For the day visitor, there are numerous short walks and trails to enjoy close by. Canoe trips or white water rafting is also available in season.

The Western Australian Department of Sport and Recreation is currently examining Dwellingup as a potential trails hub for the state, one of only two locations under review. The project presents a superb opportunity to further promote and provide access to the amazing landscapes and wilderness places that Dwellingup and the Peel region has to offer.
